How it works

A file can carry metadata in formats beyond what's shown here (e.g. maker-specific binary tags), and the AI-signal list is a best-effort keyword match, not a certified detector.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between EXIF, IPTC, and XMP?
EXIF is written mostly by cameras (settings, GPS, timestamps). IPTC and XMP are typically added by editing/publishing software for descriptive and rights metadata (captions, creator, copyright). A file can carry any combination of the three.
Why does it flag a 'possible AI-tool signal' but no C2PA manifest?
Some AI tools write their name into a Software or CreatorTool field without producing a full C2PA manifest. The keyword match catches that case, but it can also miss tools not in its list or false-flag unrelated software.
