Limitations

This tool can only report on metadata it can read — it cannot assess the photo's visual content itself (faces, landmarks, visible text, reflections) which can also reveal identity or location.

Frequently asked questions

What's the biggest privacy risk in a typical photo?
GPS location data, when present, is usually the highest-risk field — it can pinpoint where a photo was taken to within a few meters, and by extension where you live, work, or were at a specific time.
Why does an embedded thumbnail matter?
Some editors keep the original preview thumbnail even after you crop or edit the visible image, which can accidentally expose content you meant to remove.
Does removing metadata make a photo fully anonymous?
No — the visual content itself (faces, license plates, landmarks, reflections) can still identify people or places even with all metadata removed.
