Limitations
This tool removes information embedded in the file itself. It cannot affect visual/statistical patterns some platforms use for independent AI detection, which are part of the image content, not its metadata.
This does not defeat AI detection
Removing embedded information only removes what a file discloses about itself. Platforms like Facebook and Instagram increasingly run independent, content-based AI classifiers that don't rely on embedded metadata at all. This tool will not make AI-generated content undetectable, and we don't claim otherwise.
Frequently asked questions
- Will this remove Facebook's 'AI info' label from my photo?
- Not reliably. That label can come from embedded C2PA/metadata signals (which this tool removes) or from Meta's own independent AI-content classifiers, which analyze the image itself and are unaffected by metadata changes.
- What exactly counts as 'AI-related information'?
- Mainly a C2PA/Content Credentials manifest (which can include a trainedAlgorithmicMedia digital source type), XMP fields like DigitalSourceType or CreatorTool naming a known AI tool, and EXIF Software fields naming a generator. This tool targets all of these, along with other hidden metadata like IPTC and ICC data.
- Is using this tool to hide AI content dishonest?
- That's a judgment call for you to make based on where you're posting and any disclosure rules that apply there. This tool is a metadata utility, not an endorsement of any particular use.
